  • A mandatory evacuation has been issued for all Dare County visitors beginning Tuesday, September 3 at 12:00 p.m.
  • A mandatory evacuation order for all Dare County residents becomes effective at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4.
  • A ban on ocean swimming is in place due to dangerous surf conditions and strong rip currents along the beaches. Everyone must stay out of the water as it is unsafe for even the most experienced swimmers.
  • Dare County Schools will be closed Wednesday, September 4 through Friday,  September 6.
  • Dare County Government Offices will be be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3 and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, September 4. County Offices will close at noon on Wednesday.
